Project Overview

Temporary works package enabling proposed structural alterations at Glencar House. The works required temporary support of existing steel beams and floor structures during the alteration sequence.

Our Solution

We designed a multi-faceted temporary works scheme including:

  • Temporary support for the existing steel beams and floor above during alterations
  • Propping — vertical support systems to carry load during structural modifications
  • Backpropping — supporting lower-level structures to distribute temporary loads
  • Needling and reverse needling — supporting masonry walls during opening formations

Outcome

The temporary works scheme enabled the permanent structural alterations to proceed safely and efficiently, with all temporary supports removed upon completion of the permanent works.
